History
The battles form Marasti from 22nd of July to 1st of August 1917 marked the first victories of the Romanian Army in World War First. The battlefield from Marasti was built to honour them, right after the end of the war.
Sacrifice
The battle from Marsti lasted for 10 days, while 1469 soldiers died and 3052 Romanian soldiers were wounded. In Marasti Mausoleum were inhumed 5.342 known and unknown heroes, Romanians, Russians and Germans.
Philanthropy
On December 5, 1917, at Cotofanesti, "Marasti" Society was founded, the one which was going to rebuilt the village and to raise, in the loving memory of those lost in battle, Marasti Mausoleum and the bust of Marshal Averescu.
